From Larry's Desk - November 2010

Hmmm…someone at the First Annual OHCC Trick-or-Treat Trunk Fest yesterday casually mentioned that I hadn’t done a “From Larry’s Desk…” in awhile. I responded “Oh surely I have, pshaw…you just haven’t looked at the website in awhile.” “It was just a little while ago, go check again…”

I took a look myself- WOW its been awhile…I don’t know where the time went…Time gets away from us so easily…I think we all can come up with our own examples of that, like when the High School Reunion Committee contacts you to tell you about the upcoming 30 year reunion- and you haven’t downloaded all the pics from the 25th Reunion.

My first ministerial leadership came in the form of teaching 4 and 5 year old kids (which is why I have this twitch-). This past summer, Deana and I went home to Asheville and heard stories and saw pics of the Renees, the Julia-Annes, and the Krissys all of which had their own kids now- all of them older than when I was teaching the Renees, the Julia-Annes and the Krissys. I still cant figure out how those kids got old and Deana and I are the same age we were when we lived there.
Mick and the Rolling Stones like to sing:

"Oh, time is on my side, yes it is
Time is on my side, yes it is"

Um no its not Mick..sorry…The phrase “time flies” is wayyyy too true…so I encourage folks, me included to maybe take a little time, from time to time, when you have time, sorry I have run out of time to finish this…Ok just this time I will go over-time, to ask us to take a look at how we spend “time”. There aren’t that many hours in a day so are we wasting it griping about someone or some issue? Are we wasting it simmering over some argument we had with a loved one, a neighbor, another church member? Are we wasting it by hanging out at our own pity-party? Forgive, apologize, cry, hug, shake hands, kiss and make up and move on…Wow got that done just in time…
